Saint Louis University Human Resources offers wellness programs to SLU faculty and staff encompassing physical, financial, spiritual, intellectual and emotional/social well-being.
Medical Premium Discount
At Saint Louis University, we are dedicated to supporting your well-being journey on and off campus. The wellness discount for is $70 for the employee, with an additional $35 available for medically covered spouses.
To qualify for the wellness discount for plan year 2026, you'll need to complete an annual wellness exam with your primary care provider anytime between Jan. 1 and Nov. 30, 2025. United Healthcare will provide us with a report of completion.
A primary care provider (PCP) can be a family medicine doctor, internist, obstetrician/gynecologist, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant within your primary care provider's office. Their comprehensive approach helps to ensure continuity of care and a more holistic view of your health.
If you still need to establish care with a primary care provider and are seeking one, SSM Health/SLUCare offers several Tier One providers that can meet your needs. You can find a list of these providers and their information through the following resources:
- SSM Health: Visit the SSM Health website to search for Tier One Providers by location, specialty, and availability.
- SLUCare: Check the SLUCare website for a directory of providers affiliated with Saint Louis University, including their contact information and areas of expertise.
- Employee Well-Being: Contact the university's wellness coordinator for recommendations and assistance in scheduling an appointment with a Tier One Provider.
Directions for Wellness Discount for New Hires
To qualify for the wellness discount, new hires must complete an annual wellness exam
with a primary care provider. A primary care provider (PCPs) can be defined as a family

physician assistant within
your primary care provider’s office. Their comprehensive approach helps to ensure
continuity of care and a more holistic view of your health. A primary care annual
wellness visit will typically include vital signs, health history, physical exam and
labs. Please note, you do not need to submit your actual biometric screening numbers.
This verification form must be submitted 90 days after the date of hire to employeewellbeing@slu.edu.
Please note: Covered spouses must also complete the primary care visit each year to qualify for the wellness discount and complete a separate form.
Upcoming Wellness Events
SLU's Employee Well-being Program sponsors various wellness-related events throughout the year. These events focus on physical, social/emotional, intellectual, financial and spiritual wellness.
