One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

Saint Louis University’s Center for Social Action promotes many forms of community engagement, from episodic service to more in-depth involvement. This list of one-time volunteer opportunities will help SLU students, faculty or staff make a difference based on your schedule and interests. Many are perfect for groups.

September

Tower Grove Park 

What: Volunteers are needed for our Plant It Forward days, a biannual campaign that engages the community in helping to maintain the beautiful display beds in Tower Grove Park. Fall work includes digging cannas, elephant ears and other plant varietals; clearing display beds of debris; and aid in planting 20,000+ bulbs for the spring season.
When: 9 - 11 a.m., most days beginning Tuesday, Sept. 23 through Thursday, Oct. 23.

What: Volunteers are needed for our monthly Family Fun Night, helping with an evening of food, games, and activities for youth served by our program and their families.

What: Volunteers are needed for our Fundraiser Luncheon, helping with all aspects of the event.

DeSales Community Development

What: Volunteers are needed to help inventory and organize equipment in the Fox Park Field House at the end of DeSales' summer youth baseball season - a program provided free-of-charge to local families. Volunteers will help count, organize, and reshelf baseball equipment (helmets, gloves, bats, etc.) and extra uniforms.

What: Volunteers are needed to help us celebrate the life of abolitionist Mary Meachum along the Mississippi River. Help with general event help tasks and then stay to join us for the celebration!
