Medicolegal Forensic Autopsy

The word autopsy is formed from two Greek words: autos and optos, which mean "self" and "seen" respectively. Thus, autopsy means "the act of seeing with one's own eyes." It is commonly known as a postmortem examination. A medicolegal autopsy or forensic autopsy is done in deaths due to unnatural causes and in natural cases also, where the cause of death is not certain. The aim and objectives of the medicolegal autopsy are to help the law enforcement agencies to ascertain the identity of the deceased, cause of death, type of weapon used, time since death, manner of death and to collect any trace evidence that might be present. Join the AIMS program in welcoming the Saint Louis University Department of Forensic Science in what is sure to be an auditorium program you won't want to miss!

Post-presentation experiential learning: cadaver demonstration and pig heart dissection

Middle School Programming

The Incredible Human Body

Give your students an unforgettable look inside the human body! This 90-minute, hands-on program introduces middle school students to the incredible complexity of human anatomy using real, professionally prepared human cadavers. Guided by our experienced educators, students will explore the major systems of the body — skeletal, muscular, circulatory, respiratory and more — gaining a deeper understanding of how they work together to keep us alive and health.

This unique learning experience sparks curiosity, builds respect for the human body, and connects classroom science to real-world anatomy in a way textbooks simply can't.

The program will be held Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026.
